Magazine Advert Analysis- One

Florence and the machine
Magazine Advert

Costume
The image seen is one of Florence from Florence and the machine, the reason it is only her is because she is the main person of the band, I chose to analyse this magazine advert because I like the look of the costume that she is wearing, the album is called 'lungs' and so to represent that she is wearing a necklace that covers where her lungs should be, this is the first thing that is noticeable about the advert as well as Florence herself, she is wearing a dress that is of a frill look throughout the whole of the image we can see, by wearing this it brings more attention to the pair of fake lungs sticking out of her chest.

Makeup&Hair
Florence is sporting simplistic hair and make up because all the attention is drawn to the lungs on he chest, but although it maybe subtle and simple it is still perfectly coordinated with the rest of the image, Her hair is curled and tied up in a bun, as if her hair was down then the lungs wouldn't be as visible because it would be covered in her hair. Her make-up is very subtle so that it doesn't stand out too much compared to what is really meant to stand out, but there is still a sense of girlishness as she has bright cheeks and bright lips.

Positioning
The positioning of Florence is one of the most important things because her body is the first thing that is seen on the advert her body fills up the whole image section, this is important so that the first thing people will see is her face and body and instantly know who it is.

Shot Type
This is a mid shot of Florence, this image is easily recognisable as this is the same image that is used on her album 'Lungs' fans and many other audiences will be able to recognise who this is even though she isn't facing forwards or even before they see her name.

Font Type
The font used for the title of the band is in big bold letters so that it stands out for the audiences to see straight away, the font is in white which goes well with its black background because it pops out more. If an audience was to look at this advert on a page the first thing they would be drawn to and most interested in was the name as this appeals to the audience because the advert is about the star.
Another thing that is in big writing and stands out is the title of the album
Other writing on the page includes the names of some of the songs that are included in the album, and the bands website, these are all in smaller writing because these aren't main things, but are still easily readable.

Layout
This advert layout is quite simple because it includes all the necessary things that a magazine advert would have, it is a portrait advert which would normally take up a whole page, standing out more than the landscape adverts that are normally only half a page. The main image is of Florence which is the first thing people would see, it is a big image taking up most of the advert itself so it brings most of the attention to Florence.
